the number of burger joints these days are just uncountable. i feel like supply is way exceeding demand these days. having heard of burger kawkaw, wanted to give it a try. every burger joint has like its signature. burger kaw kaw is known for their thick patties. u know how like mcds patties have shrank so much, to a point i no longer want to order a mchicken anymore because its not filling for me, well this attacks the issue i guess.
burger bakr burger kaw kaw, instead of pan frying the patties they grill them, but really, nothing special.
i decided to try their lamb burger, single patty would suffice because of its thickness. and thankfully, because i was really full after my burger. my meal was roughly 15 bucks, but i didn't really enjoy it that much. few minutes after i seated myself, my order was ready. this could only mean one thing, my burger was not made to order. i didn't really like that fact. i prefer waiting for abit, and having my food come right from the grill. and so, because of this, the bread was hard and dry, the meat cold, and it just was like a burger made ages ago and not up to standard at all. honestly, i would not go back. moreover, this is located a row behind burgertory, so burgertory over burger kaw kaw, anytime man. like other than the thickness of its patty, nothing special. even ramlee burgers on the streets are way better because they are made to order, hence served hot. definitely not worth trying.

heng gak satay @ pontian johor
people would probably wonder how in the world a subang kid ended up in pontian. i mean would anyone travel to pontian for no apparent reason? well, my ex comes from pontian, and i had this one time, i mean every single time of the times i was there. its really good food, and this is for the benefit of other people who might possibly visit pontian, i'm sure there are plenty like my ex's next potential to-be-partner but yea, this is for the benefit of them.
evry single time i went down, i would have it for supper every single night, because that is how much i love the satay there and my ex used to bring me every time. we always start by ordering 10 sticks, 5 each, then we'd be like, damn, not really satisfied yet. then we'll order like another 6 sticks, 3 each, and we always end up ordering like 3-5 times. haha in self denial trying to convince myself that i'm going to eat less for once-never happens. i only eat the pork and lamb satay here. i have never tried the chicken satay or beef. but because the pork satay is so good and i can hardly find pork satay in kl/subang. thing is i like lean meat satay, and they happen to be able to make leanm eat satay which does not dry out the meat. the sauce is full pack os peanut flavour. hands down the best satay i've had
basically located in this shop called restaurant ah leng..
but since we've broken up, not too sure if i'll ever get the chance to have this satay again. i mean would i really travel a 5 hour journey down and come back up just for the satay? i mean its a 10 hour journey. plus they only open in the evenings, so it makes no sense for me to stop by on my way down to singapore or something-oh wells. but for people who live nearer to this area, a drive down to pontian to savour these amazing satays is worth it trust me. 60 cents a stick for 60 seconds of happiness.

belanga @ empire
i never really wanted to try belanga. i think i walked pass it more than a couple of times in midvalley, but maybe the name never striked me as intersting, or i've never really heard people rave about the food? so it never crossed my mind to try this place. one of my friends wanted to try it for lunch, so went along to check out the food there.
i wasn't impressed with the cake selection displayed. the 7 layer-ed colored cake looked dry and dense. you could tell just by looking at it that it was not good cake. so my advice would be to not order the cakes there. but i wasn't there for the cakes.
so tried this thing called nasi tumpang which sounded rather interesting. you get to choose either the fish or the prawn ones, and naturally being a fish lover, i tried the fish. its supposedly a kelantanse cuisine. and its something like rice cakes/ketupat/the satay rice thingies with fish floss. that is the most apt description i can come up with. its something different and i really liked it, especially the spicy fish floss. i would definitely come back for this. 6.90 for this, totally worth it. perhaps i will try the prawn one next time.
portions a little small though for lunch so need to order something in addition to this. or maybe i just have a big appetite who knows. had the curry noodles as well, but i thought it was just ordinary and nothing to brag about. nothing special and i probs won't order this again. maybe next time i will go fro the moer traditional kind of kelantanese food they serve, since they pride themselves on that. maybe the nasi dagang next time.

best rojak @ss15
i've known this rojak place every since i was a little kid and this is the only rojak i eat to date. i do not eat, i mean i've tried but they've all ended up being bad experiences for me, so i no longer buy rojak elsewhere anymore. i solely am loyal to this rojak place in ss15. ive seen it grow, from a mere lorry truck to having its own stand now, but you still see the signature truck parked behind their stand. its just something, call it magic, but they serve up, to me, the best rojak there is.
depending on your luck, there may be a que. i think there was only once that i went that there was no que. thing is the que in front is normally about 10 people, but each of them buy like 5-10 packets, some even 15 so it takes pretty long to get to your turn. its like u wait so long, u must buy as many pacckets as you can. this rojak is the malay kind of rojak so it is with shredded cucumber, mengkuang, some fried stuffs, absolutely yummy keropok and topped with a peanut sauce. they have a very organized system in play, with one uncle shredding the cucumbers whilst packing the peanut sauce whereas the other packing the rojak into individual packets to order.
they have pure rojak, or u can have eggs and sotong with the rojak. i normally haev the sotong and egg ones but that is just cuz im a fan of sotong. the sotong is not the star, its the rojak itself, so u could do without the sotong.
its absolutely food from heaven, i must say. its the sauce and the fried stuffs that comes together with the rojak that is the star of the dish. every bite is heavenly. this really is a 10 out of 10 dish. its like if they ever stopped selling their superstar dish, id probably not eat rojak anymore in my life. no joke. this is how good it is. i swear they are as old as me and im in my twenties.

there is a cendol store right next to the rojak stall, so u could have a cup of cendol whilst waiting under the hot blazing sun, just to cool you down.

ramli burger @ usj 9
i had a sudden craving for burger, so decided to have ramli burger for dinner today. i used to always visit the one in usj 4 but decided to give usj 9 a try this time. i'm sure ramli burgers need no introduction. they are just burgers being sold off the street using ramli patties and some even say are better than the famous mackers/mcd. i think they're just different in their own way.
so what i orderd was a chicken double special with cheese-translating this meaning a double chicken patty, with cheese, wrapeed in an egg omelette. as we all know every stall has their own signature difference, and theirs was using cucumber shreds as their vegetable base instead of the standard lettuce. i thought that was really good, better than using lettuce for sure. the sauce they used was adequate, and i like how they sandwiched my cheese between the 2 patties, enclosed in the omelette, hence trapping all the heat and melting my cheese.

look at all that yummy goodness. i would rate it not bad honestly. like i'd go back.

super kitchen chilli panmee @ usj9
i never really understood the hype of chilli pan mee, until i tried this place. they serve one of the best. to me, what makes this place stand out are their noodles. the texture of the noodles is just not something i've tried. i seem to be lost for words on how good their noodles are. the noodles are just smooth, and when you bite into it, its that texture which makes thier noodles stand above the others.
they have several branches, my often visits are in fifteen and taipan/usj9. their menu selection may appear limited, but, really, people always go for their classic chilli pan mee signature which is noodles, tossed in some transparent oil-ish sauce, vege, crisp fried anchovies, some poached vege and topped with a poached egg. you then add the chilli according to your liking, mix them up, and it becomes this amazing creation.
the other thing i quite liked were their crisp-fried dumplings. although they looked burnt, the meat filling was packed filled with flavour. i loved the crunch of if im not mistaken black fungus and tiny carrots in it which just made the fillinf sweet and juicy. definitely a must order.
for me, my normal is the pork chop pan mee. i love the crisp fried beancurd skin (fuchuk) that comes with the noodles. it also comes with some pork chop meat. i'm a meat lover, so i normally have this to have meat to go with my meals. being an egg lover, i normally order an additional poached egg to go with this. and make no mistake, this pork chop is made of 3 quarters of lean meat and a quarter of fatm making the meat very tender. its also fried to crisp up the sides.
definitely a foodies' must try, be it whether you've been in malaysia and ignorant hence have not heard of this place or u r coming back from studying overseas fro too long a time, or just travelling in to malaysia for a visit. this is definitely a must try. truly a 10 out of 10 kind of food.

porridge time @sunway pyramid
porridge time, more familiar name being its canto name feng yi zhuk sek. i was really fascinated by the name of this porridge shop. i mean its blurdy cool. feng yi zhuk sek basically means, surviving sufficiently, and since the 3rd word is pronounced similarly to porridge in chiense, they replaced the 3rd word with porridge and that made their name. well i thought it was cool hehe. but in english, its just known as porridge time.
so i like how they served the porridge in claypots. the porridge comes piping hot. i know because i was rushing for my movie, and was like oh-my why is my porridge so hot after ages, i'm going to be late for my movie. i love claypot anything, so unsurprisingly, i loved the porridge here. the consistency of the porridge was perfect for me and the portion was good as well. i felt like i had a never-ending-supply of porridge. on the side, you add your own sesame oil, soy sauce and pepper, to your own pallate. i had the fish porridge with an extra salted egg. i mean porridge without salted egg, is like an incomplete dish. hehe. as you can see from the menu, they also serve up other claypot dishes as well, but a shop that prides itself on their porridge, i mean of course u order their porridge.
